Eid Mubarak

As Salaamu Alaykum,

Alhumdulillah, Allah has bestowed upon us a day of celebration and rejoice; it is a day which is given to us by Allah to after our 'dedication', 'hard work' and 'undivided worship' in the month of Ramadhan.

As much a celebration, Eid is also a day within which Muslims around the world show gratitude and thankfulness towards Allah for giving them strength, courage, life and an opportunity to worship Him with devotion during the month of Ramadhan and by doing so strengthening their Faith and Imaan.

Eid is a day where those things which were impermissible for a Muslim during the day in the month of Ramadhan have now become permissible; namely food and drink. It is a day where Allah forbids us from refraining from food and drink and instead celebrate whilst remaining within the boundaries of Islam.

This is the 'normal' and 'usual' explanation of Eid. However, there is also another side of Eid.

Eid is like the commencement of a 'new year'; in essence a beginning of a new 'spiritual year'. The day of Eid is the day we leave the month of Ramadhan and continue what we were doing within that month with dedication. The day of Eid begins for us a year that should be spent in the path of Allah to obtain His mercy, forgiveness and pleasure.

It is from this day forward that one will see whether his Ramadhan was accepted by Allah or rejected. If he was successful then he will see a change in his life, a change for the better; and Allah forbid, if he is swayed further away from the path then his Ramadhan was as just an 'obligation' which he discharged without reaping its benefits or rewards.

May Allah make us from those whose Ramadhan and its worships were accepted and may He forgive us for our shortcomings. May He grant us the strength to worship Him with sincerity and total devotion for the remaining months and may He grant us life so that we are blessed with the bouties of the month of Ramadhan once again. Aameen.

EID MUBARAK to all the readers. May this day, and the days to follow, be filled with joy, happiness and glad tidings and blessings from Allah. May Allah's mercy be with us all and may His happiness be our goal. Aameen.

Wasalaam
